Select your sprayed snowflakes. Click on "Break Link to Symbol" icon (3rd, down at the Symbols window). Now you can select one by one, whole together... and change them colors. Another option:

When I add one symbol to my project I have the option "break link to symbol" however when i selectthat option with only one symbol it did not seem to give me the ability to edit it.
