Another option:
"Shift+F11" - now you have "Symbols" window opened. Select your sprayed snowflakes. Click on "Break Link to Symbol" icon (3rd, down at the Symbols window). Now you can select one by one, whole together... and change them colors.

thanks bsilvia, is there a a certain version of Illustrator that has this capability. When I add one symbol to my project I have the option "break link to symbol" however when i selectthat option with only one symbol it did not seem to give me the ability to edit it. Andwhen I use the symbol sprayer and select all of the symbols the break link to symbol option goes away. I am assuming it may be something with my version but it is version 11

How to colorize the symbols or even change their shapes: select all symbols and use the “Break Link to Symbol” - now you can manipulate shapes and colors until the dawn breaks or until you’re happy with the results - whatever comes first :)

Screen shot:
How to draw swirls illustrations in Adobe Illustrator, Part Two
