I had this idea for a while. And if you’ve been browsing for brushes around the net you’ll understand why.
The main problem out there is that, once you find a good resource (web site), you can’t really see all the brushes of all the sets in one single place. You need to open set by set preview (if available) to see what do you actually get.
So, I did a catalog of Photoshop brushes. All of them in one place. Clearly displayed, one brush set per page and each individual brush is there. It’s a Flash document with page flip effect so it looks cool.
Anyway, enough talking, click here to access the catalog, flip through pages and browse through the brushes. Get the ones you like the most and have fun creating!
Love,
Silvia

So, in last post we talked about Paint.NET and how to get Photoshop brushes into it.
Now, it’s only fair that we say a word or two about GIMP. Just like Paint.NET, GIMP is also free Image Manipulation Program. It was interesting to notice how Paint.NET had only 1.6Mb. That’s, like, really really small. GIMP seems to be a bit heavier – 17Mb.
So, let’s see what’s GIMP‘s functionality when it comes to brushes and how could we use existing Photoshop brushes in GIMP.
So, here is the procedure:
1. Convert Photoshop brush to .png
- Start abrViewer
- In abrViewer, click on load brushes and select the folder that contains .abr files (Photoshop Brushes)
- Double-Click on the brush set that you would like to convert
- Go to Export -> Thumbnails and select the location for .png files
2. Import that .png brush to GIMP
3. Go to File-> Save As -> <somename>.gbr
4. Make sure to save it into <GIMP installation folder>\share\gimp\2.0<version No.>\brushes
And Voila! You now have Photoshop brushes in GIMP!
OK. I made one GIMP brushes set for you. For free of course:

Paint.NET plugin and tutorial on how to use Photoshop brushes in paint.net. There are also some Paint.NET photoshop brushes included for free download.
Read More Post a comment (31)Green Bulb Gang members already received one short tutorial on creating custom gifts with brushes. And just when I dispatched the newsletter I got this email from webgrrl. She made one mug using my brushes and won todays best/featured at ZaZZle!
There would be nothing odd about this unless she made that mug before she received the newsletter. So, it was her idea :) And in the newsletter I also refer to Zazzle.com as one of the possible web services where you can make apply your designs to various stuff. And in this tutorial I also take mug as an example.
So, much about coincidences! Webgrrl, I am so happy for you! And I like your mug! And therefore I announce you The Artist of The Day! Thank you for using my brushes!
Here is the mug:
And you can find more Webgrrls stuff at: http://www.zazzle.com/webgrrl
P.S. I just realized that Webgrrl also made Doc Martens boot design! Way to go girl! Voted!
P.P.S. Here are some more Doc Martens designs. These were done with my Photoshop brushes.
Please click on the image and vote if you like it :) And let me know if you made some too :)

Guys,
I know this is not a blog about environmental and social issues, but still, I need to share this video with you. This video is an eye opener for many of us and I truly hope you too will take 20 minutes to watch it and become more aware on what is actually going on with our planet at this very moment.

The name of this short movie is “The story of stuff” and it can be seen here ->
Excerpt from The Story of Stuff web site:
“The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It’ll teach you something, it’ll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.”
And this is a little preview so you get an idea on what makes it so important for all of us who share this little planet of ours:

OK, guys, I know that the first tutorial on creating swirls in AI was not the best tutorial on the topic and it just screamed for improvement.
This is just a small intro to answer some of your questions related to compatibility of Photoshop brushes with Elements. This video was done in Elements 6.0
