Swirls
Gang! I was so happy with the latest Art Nouveau Photoshop brushes (see my last post and download some free brushes) that I just had to run over to Vienna this weekend and pay tribute to some of the original artists of the Art Nouveau movement.
So, my hubby and myself, we decided that we want to visit Klimt exhibition. Klimt was, in our opinion, a really cool artist, painter who worked in the era of secession and influenced it – a lot.
Of course, we had to visit (again) the Hundertwasser House, it was designed, of course, by Hundertwasser and the way he did it is unique! It’s what arhitecture should strive to today. Also, we went to Vienna Kunst Museum which is almost all about Hundertwasser – by the way, find out more about Hundertwasser here ->
The Klimt exhibition was held in so called Bellevue park and museum. Belvedere is really a huge park decorated with no more, no less than – live swirls. So, there, another way to use them Photoshop brushes swirls – design your garden in swirls shapes! Even in Autumn. Here is the picture (more images at bsilvia.com):

Gang! Before I present you with my new Photoshop brushes, I just have to share this with you:
Here I am, getting ready to finish my work but just can’t keep my eyes of Poofitzah. The level if interest she shows in most trivial things is amazing. I mean, how much fun can one have with a plastic bottle cap? Or a piece of crumpled tinfoil?
Believe me, this little creature is totally amazed by it! She probably believes that plastic bottle caps are the biggest human invention since, like, ever!
The level of excitement she displays after kicking it, the passion involved in chasing it, eyes wide open after the jump and a quick catch! Sometimes I wish I could share her amazement, astonishment and interest in just about anything one can lay their eyes or hands or paws on.
I just love that innocent little creature.
However, in between keeping my eyes on Poofitzah, I managed to prepare a brand new Photoshop brushes set. This time, the theme is – Floral Ornaments so I called it Floral Ornaments – Art Nouveau. Hi Gang,
Many of you asked me about coloring brushes in Adobe Illustrator.
Well, I know, I promised to make a video tutorial long time ago, but there is so much to do and so little time :)
Anyways, finally, it is here. Video tutorial on coloring the brushes.
Before watching it, please make sure that you have your Illustrator ready and the brushes window open (F5).
Basically, what I’m doing here is the following:
- First I load my Adobe Illustrator brushes from Vector Floral Shapes set (30). As soon as the desired brush is clicked on – it appears on the brushes window.
- Double click on the brush to open a dialog box. “Colorization method” has to be set to “Tints”.
- Rest is self explanatory, just make the shape and select the color with the color picker

We have a new family member! (who inspired me to finally finish the Cats Photoshop brushes that I started to work on last June) Gorgeous little kitten, barely two months old, called Poomfoolyitzah! I know, it is almost impossible to pronounce so we gave her a nickname Poofitzah! I know, this is probably not much easier. Maybe we should have called her Curly. That would be easy, but what can I say…

And now something completely different: Photoshop Action – Old Grainy Image Effect by me :)
I hope that you all know what Photoshop Actions are and what can those do for you. If not, you will find out shortly. They’re, actually, quite easy to use and are a real time savers.
Basically, Photoshop action is a sequence of commands that are executed in order to apply formatting, setting or some effect on the image. For this post I prepared an action that will apply an old grainy effect on image.
I made this action for HiQuality images. So, please don’t use small images and then be grumpy about it :) For successful finishing you’ll need a photo or image not smaller than 2500x2500pix.
First open your image. I used a photo of my friend Mirta, simple portrait that we made in my living room (as you can see, I used one huge red and orange bed cloth to serve as a background).
To load PS Actions you have to open PS Action Window on Windows main menu or hit ALT+F9.
Photoshop comes with actions that you can use, but now click on small arrow in the upper right windows corner to get the drop down menu
and go to “Load Actions” – then choose Old Grainy Image Effect wherever you seved it, on your Desktop or somewhere else (in PS they come in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\Presets\Photoshop Actions folder).
Now, select the folder (open it so that the arrow is pointing bellow), and select the name of the Photoshop Action “Old Grainy Image Effect” and finally hit the PLAY button at the bottom of the Actions window.
Sit back and wait.
Actions will do the rest. And now we have one Old Grainy Image in sepia tone. You can download my Photoshop Action Old Grainy Image here without subscription for the next 5 days.

Hello to all you creative minds!
Today, I wanted tell you about one great idea! It is all about being creative, making some great presents and even some money at the same time.
So, here it is:
Some three days ago, I was wandering around the Internet when I stumbled upon Spoonflower web site. Spoonflower offers creative people possibility to have their own designs on fabric for pillows, clothes, table clothes, bags…. and many other things.
Creating unique fabric design with Spoonflower is easy: make your own pattern, upload it to their web site, choose your preferred fabric size, make an order and wait. The fabric with your own unique design should be printed and shipped within 3 weeks.
Right now, they are in beta mode: that means that you can register and create an account only by invitation. But I managed, so there should be no problem at all.
If you know how to sew or make any clothes – you can use this to make some great and unique Christmas presents, or even sell some of your unique stuff! But if you don’t know, don’t worry – you can find some basics on the topic at Instructables.com and if you want to sew using sewing machine you can try this tips: How to Sew, using sewing machine.
One thing is for sure: Spoonflower offers you a great way to express yourself! And here it is my pattern sample:
Here, I used Vector Floral Shapes set (30) (now ON SALE!). These were used to create the pattern that’s applied to fabric, so, my final product in 2 yards size (42×72 inch) will look like this: [ PREVIEW MY UNIQUE FABRIC DESIGN ]. Out of this fabric I will make pillow covers!
So, feel free to use some of my Photoshop brushes or Vector sets to help you out in your new fabric designs!
