Loading and using brushes in Photoshop Elements (129 seconds video)

I received a lot of questions about using my Photoshop brushes in Photoshop Elements.

Here is a short video (129 seconds) to show you how to use my (and any other) Photoshop brushes in Photoshop Elements:

  1. Loading brushes
  2. Decorating a family photo

So, here is what’s going on on video:

  1. Select Brush tool (Shortcut “B”)
  2. Expand Brushes palette
  3. Go to “Load brushes”
  4. Browse to the directory with brushes and select “Swirls butterflies PREMIUM set” -> Load
  5. Select one of the brushes
  6. Make sure Hue Jitter is 100% (that is if you want color to vary)
  7. Adjust the size of each of the butterflies by pressing [ (to decrease) or ] (to increase)
  8. Place butterflies around the image

  1. Hi Charlene, yes they are compatible with PE 7.0 – you can try free editions at Downloads page…

  2. I actually have Photo Shop Elements 7.0, will your brushes work with this version as well?

  3. Okay, so I figured it out… for some reason when i was saving the set it wasn’t saving automatically to the default folder within PSE presets. So when I manually told it where to save it worked and all the freebies I downloaded are saved nicely in brush sets now. YAY!

I am so in love with your brushes… been playing with them pretty much nonstop. I made myself a new banner for my etsy shop (http://amyzo.etsy.com) and a new baby announcement with one of the swirls and ink splatters (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=13863215).

LOVIN’ IT and I’ll be back for some premium brushes soon.

Thanks for doing the work for those of us who need the shortcuts! :-)

  4. Hi Amy, unfortunately I don’t have PE 5.0 but it works fine in PE 6.0.

  5. Silvia, these brushes are great! Thanks! I have PSE 5.0 and this is my first time trying to load new brushes. I can get the brushes to load, but it doesn’t seem to save them for future use? Is this how it is or is there something I can do to save them permanently in my brush palette? I don’t want to have to load them every time… perhaps it’s an Elements thing? Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

  6. Thanks for the brushes, keep up the good work.

  7. Hi Rob! Thanks :)
Just, I’m not sure I understand what you mean? Could you please be more specific?

  8. Would it be possible for you to create a handout kinda tutorial? Nice stuff btw :)
