Photoshop Brushes – Renaissance & Medieval

July 29, 2009  |  by bsilvia  |  Free Downloads, Photoshop Brushes, Shop  |  6 comments

Ladies and gentleman, designers, scrapbookers, Photoshoppers, beginners, enthusiasts and professionals. Today, it is my great honor and pleasure to present you

Renaissance & Medieval Photoshop brushes set!

Now, before you go and get to this set, here is the story behind …

I red one Seth Godin book a while ago. The name of the book was Small is the new Big and it is mainly intended for new entrepreneurs (and I am one in Photoshop brushes / graphics business) with a bunch of good advices.

I particularly remember one of the advices (two things):

  1. Make promises
  2. Keep promises

So, what can I say. It is only natural that one should keep promises, but to make promises. That’s something I was a bit afraid of. But, good ol’ Seth said it’s good to make promises and that I should not be afraid of making them as long as I can keep them.

Why am I saying all this?

Because I made a promise. I made a promise that I will prepare new Renaissance & Medieval themed Photoshop brushes set.

I made that promise to my Facebook page fans and, of course, I kept it. So …

Ladies and gentleman, designers, scrapbookers, Photoshoppers, beginners, enthusiasts and professionals. Today, it is my great honor and pleasure to present you

July 2009 GBG Newsletter is Out!

July 27, 2009  |  by bsilvia  |  Announcements, Free Downloads  |  No Comments

July 2009 GBG Newsletter

Gang,

As most of you already noticed, July 2009 edition of GBG Newsletter is out. And it is always a big event in our house! Simply because it takes a lot of work. Many hours. Lot of preparations, tests, modifications, adjustments and re-adjustments.

Until, one day, we can say “It’s ready” and send it out. Then we make a toast  and a little celebration :) Then we eat loads of ice cream and dance to the music! (Unless my husband decides to play Freddy in the living room :)

And I learned today, again, how you guys recognize that and appreciate it (not the dance, but the quality of the newsletter). Thank you for your messages of support!

Not to mention how thankful I am and happy to receive great feedback from my buyers. Your feedback is so great that I just go and read it when I feel down. It’s warm and uplifting. And that’s what keeps me going.

OK. I got diverted from the subject now.

So, the newsletter is out. I am already receiving great feedback about it. Especially on Facebook and thank you so much for that.

I’m glad to hear you love my latest Peacock feather brushes. As always, they come in highest possible resolution (up to 2500). I draw each feather, manually, spent a lot of time doing it, but it was worth it.

In this latest edition we also bring some new Photoshop tutorials and one background made with a little help from Peacock brushes.

All in all, I’m happy with the way it turned out. I’m even more happy to see that you like it too.

If you are new to the site and were wondering how to get the latest issue of GBG Newsletter it’s enough to become a Green Bulb Gang member ->

So, here is what background looks like (this is thumbnail version).

Hot Summer, free background, 8x8 inches at 300 dpi

So, thank you for your attention. Keep on writing, I will write back.

And don’t forget: Always have fun creating!

Hugs,

Silvia

P.S.

Oh, yes! And if you like my work and posts and the site in general, it would be really really great if you could use some of the social bookmarks below and share it on Tweeter, or StumbleUpon, or, Delicious, or … whatever you see fit :)

Graphics-Illustrations – new look

July 20, 2009  |  by bsilvia  |  Announcements, Image Gallery  |  7 comments

Well, we all knew it had to be done. We were just postponing it as much as possible.

Until today.

Yes, my dear returning visitors  and friends, you are not on the wrong place. You are on Graphics-Illustrations.Com newly redesigned web site! :)

I did it because the amount of content by far overgrew the old design. Graphics-Illustrations.Com has more than 301 articles and more than 2,000 Comments?

Graphics-Illustrations.Com

It was hard to navigate through the site the way it was designed. Some if you even wrote me saying that it is not easy to find your way around the site.

So, I hope you will like it. Please let me know!

Photoshop Brushes in Action: Envelope Design

July 15, 2009  |  by bsilvia  |  Announcements, Tutorials  |  9 comments

Two weeks ago, I had this idea to create a unique envelope for my sisters-in-law birthday. But, in the meantime, she left for vacation and now she’s enjoying Californian hotels :)

So, I still have a chance to make a unique envelope for her birthday and it will wait for her when she’s back!

So, you guessed, today’s “download and print” freebie is - envelope template.

Photoshop Brushes in Action: Envelope Template Design – Download & Print!

The original size of this envelope template is 8″x5″ on the 12″x12″ paper size, but you can print it on any size (like I did) just use “fit to paper” option on your Print window. For this envelope design I used Swirled Floral Photoshop Edges Brushes set and Floral Shapes Photoshop Brushes set. Both available in  our little shop.

Now, take a look at my short photo story on how to make an envelope. It’s fun and easy so, enjoy!

1. Print the envelope template and cut out the envelope shape. I used fancy-edge scissors just to cover my possible cutting mistakes :)

2. Fold the paper carefully and try to match (as much as you can) the illustrations on the bottom flap and top flap of the envelope. Apply 1/4″ wide double-sided tape along the side edges of the back, starting below the curves.

3. That’s it! This is the Back side of the envelope. The flaps are designed to match one another!

4. And the front side of the envelope with the place where you can write your loved one name :)

And the winner is…

  • Note: All winners are  kindly asked to send me your snail mail and e-mail addresses to my email available at the bottom of this page. Your prizes will be dispatched to your addresses this week.
  • All submissions can be seen on our Facebook Fan Page

Guys,

Before I announce the winners of the competition, I want to make one thing clear: ALL OF THE WORKS WERE AWESOME!!!!

You guys gave me such a hard time with your submissions … I will never forgive you for that ;)

Had to go through all of 116 banner submissions, one by one, shortlist, then the shortlist was too big, cannot have 50 shortlisted works, then I had to go through that again …

Anyways, thank you all for submitting your work, thank you for your effort – I appreciate it very much!

I hope you had fun creating and to all of you who voted and commented on Facebook, thank you too – it helped me a lot during the selection.

So, the competition was so strong, that I just could not select only seven submissions and leave it there. Therefore, I decided to introduce one more category for those works that did not make it to the top 7 but were very very close and if I had more sponsors those would certainly be rewarded with prizes. So, there are 14 more works with HONORABLE MENTION!

One more thing, some of the winners who submitted more than one work probably deserved more than one prize with your works, but, I had only 7 prizes to give away and hope you will agree with me, I had to give only one prize per author.

OK. Enough talking now.

Ladies and gentleman, it is a special privilege for me tonight and a great honor, to introduce you to

How to get an old photo effect, fast and easy way

July 12, 2009  |  by bsilvia  |  Tutorials  |  No Comments

Guys,

This the last day of the Competition. If you still did not submit your work – now is your chance.

I wish the best of luck to all of you.

And here is a little something I just did for those of you who love photography. I shot this image a few years ago, there was this beautiful olive tree plantation and the clouds were just magical. The shot was taken in Istria/Croatia and I must add that this area offers loads of opportunities for photographers and people who like photography.

After I did a little “touch up” in Photoshop (wanted to emphasize the oldness of the tree and the magic of the surroundings) I placed the photo on one of the background from 2 Pack Graphics: Old Grunge Paper images 3. This was done using layer multiply effect.

I placed the whole thing on the paper that I did for this purpose (plain brown background with texturizer filter applied).

The cornders come from Photo Corners (20+20) Photoshop brushes.

So, basically, to get an effect like this is more simple than it looks, isn’t it?

So, I hope you like it. Feel free to browse through my little shop for some other HiRes Photoshop brushes, background images and vectors.

Love ya all,
Silvia
