Valentines’ Day iPhone Wallpapers

Gang!

I just know you’re gonna LOVE these! Especially those of you who use iPhone, because these are Valentine’s Day iPhone Wallpapers.

Feel free to download and install them on your iPhone.

Valentine's Day iPhone Wallpaper

Valentine's Day iPhone Wallpaper

Valentine's Day iPhone Wallpaper

Valentine's Day iPhone Wallpaper

Needless to say, these were all made with a little (or should I say big) help from my friends Photoshop brushes.

But not just any Photoshop brushes. Oh, no!
For this special effect I created a special set of brushes which I named
– “Bokeh”.

Why bokeh? Well, while in photography, bokeh (shortly: aesthetic quality of the blur) is easy to create with almost any kind of camera, in graphic design many people find it desirable but hard to create.

I bet you’d like to do something like that and then show-off on Facebook, or Flickr, or your blog, or Photobook, etc … etc … right? :))

No probs!

Tomorrow, I will post a video tutorial on how to create and use bokeh (effect like the one on the images above) in your daily designs :)

So, tomorrow is a very special day, with a very special tutorial! Stay tuned!

Love,

Silvia

Tweet! Tweet! Springtime and Photoshop brushes

February 4, 2010  |  by bsilvia  |  Announcements  |  2 comments

Gang!

You know how I always emphasize the potential of Photoshop brushes when it comes to making some extra bucks (and we could all use some, right? :))

So, in one of my recent posts I was sharing my happiness with you because someone just bought a T-Shirt that I made with a little help of my Photoshop brushes! And just as I finished that post someone bought 99 buttons that I also made with a little help from my Photoshop brushes.

Photoshop professionals, enthusiasts and graphic designers do all kinds of commercial projects and businesses with my Photoshop brushes (and vectors from my shop). For instance, some do:

  1. Rubber stamps
  2. Others do invitations (all kinds of invitations)
  3. Then, logos
  4. Business cards
  5. Greeting cards
  6. Table numbers (yes, for wedding occasions)
  7. Web Designs
  8. Not to mention digital scrapbooks
  9. Photo books
  10. Packaging!

And the list goes on…

Tweet! Tweet! Springtime!

So, don’t hesitate to try in case you never tried before. It is fun! It’s easy and it’s fun! And we all know that the best creations are done when you’are having fun doing it.

Did you notice these Hollywood actors, for instance, when they are giving an interview about that great movie that got an Oscar? They always say: “We had so much fun doing it!” And they are not just saying that! They really had fun. The more fun you have while creating, the better creation will be.

So, I had some fun creating stuff for my Zazzle shop and the outcome is here :)

No reason for you not to have fun  and make great stuff too!

February 2010 Desktop Wallpaper Calendar

January 31, 2010  |  by bsilvia  |  Free Downloads, Photoshop Brushes  |  No Comments

Last night I dreamt that my cat Poofah whispered to my ear:
“Make the February Calendar Desktop Wallpaper… make the February Calendar Desktop Wallpaper… “
I opened my eyes. Poofah was sitting on my pillow. Starring at me. In silence. Her yellow eyes were glittering in the dark.

Just a distant howling of the lone wolf. Owl shrieked and flew away. Clouds were passing by the full moon.

OK. I exaggerated a bit with this wolf, moon and owl thing but still, I look at Poofah in suspicion ever since. And silence is all I get – ever since.

Anyways, I just had to make sure that such nightmare won’t happen’ again so I sat by my computer, opened some of my favorite Photoshop brushes and voila: February 2010 Calendar Desktop Wallpaper is here (Download link is below)!

I know you won’t miss the Poofah influence in the design. Sorry, I could not escape it :)

So, enjoy these wallpapers or enjoy even more creating your own designs with the superb Photoshop brushes from my little shop of wonders for designers :)

Love you all!
Silvia (the one from the woods, but I’ll explain that later, maybe in the P.S. :)

P.S.
Ok. I’ll explain that now.
My name, Silvia, in Latin, means – the one from the woods.
Archaic Latin alphabet does not have “Y”, that’s why my mother insisted that my name was Silvia and not Sylvia. Anyways, I might even turn into a werewolf once a month for all that I know :))

P.P.S.
Now, that got me thinking. I might even call my next company “Werewolf designs” … uhmmmm … cool …

How to Make a Valentine’s Envelope

January 30, 2010  |  by bsilvia  |  Free Downloads, Image Gallery  |  5 comments

Hello, my dear Photoshop brushes and DiY addicts!

Valentine’s day is near and now is the right time to get ready and prepare some nice surprises for the ones we love. We all know that the best gifts are the ones that we prepare by ourselves. So, for today I prepared a little DiY tutorial on how to make a Valentine’s day envelope. Envelope is not a gift by itself but a self-made envelope with a nice message inside to accompany it, well, that’s something completely different. Your beloved one will love you for this.

First of all, to make a proper Valentine’s day envelope, you will need a proper paper with some cool Valentine’s day design theme.

Sponsor of this article (and that would be me) recommends some of the High Quality Photoshop brushes by Graphics-Illustrations.Com .

I guess that “Valentine’s (21+21) Second Edition + 21 PNG files” would be the best choice for the occasion.

OK. Once you selected the brushes you will use for design and printed the envelope paper it’s time to make an envelope.ž

I took these photos to show you how to do it:

And here on this link there are some additional explanations ->

How to Make an Envelope

Fold the paper it in a way shown above.

How to Make an Envelope

Now fold the top flaps, and create square shapes from triangles.

How to Make an Envelope

Flop the inside corners outwards and fold the middle triangle shape upwards.

How to Make an Envelope

Double fold the upper edge and then tuck the outer half of it inside the pocket.

How to Make an Envelope

Picture 9. shows tucked folded part from pic 7. and 8. Now fold left and right sides inwards.

How to Make an Envelope

Fold the bottom corners towards the center, fold and tuck bottom into envelope opening.

And that’s it.

Again, if you need additional help, here are the original instructions I used to create this tutorial ->

And, finally, here is the video on how to do it:

Oh yes, If you want to use my envelope designs download them here:

Have fun creating and make someone happy on this Valentine’s day!

Video Tutorials: Using Photoshop Brushes and PNG files in Photoshop Elements

January 26, 2010  |  by bsilvia  |  Tutorials  |  No Comments

Guys,
I received sooo many questions about using Photoshop brushes with Photoshop Elements that I just had to go and make a video tutorials on that topic.

Now, I need to add that I’m totally not surprised that Photoshop elements is so popular these days. It is a great piece of software and unless you are a heavy duty designer pro it will do just fine for all the usual bitmap editing tasks.

It even imports my Canon 5D RAW file format which I can not do with my Photoshop CS4.

I prepared four video tutorials on how to use my Photoshop Brushes and PNG files in Photoshop Elements 8.0.

First video will show you how to work with Photoshop brushes (<- 800+ Photoshop brushes MEGA SET on this link) in Photoshop Elements and this time I used Hearts (grungy) Photoshop Brushes set:

Second video is showing the easy way to work with PNG files in Photoshop Elements, and in this one I used my Tattoo PNG files from Tattoo Photoshop Brushes second edition set. This one I did together with my hubby. He did the narration:

Third video will show you how to create photo masks in Photoshop Elements (ver. 8.0) using my Christmas Photo Masks PNG files (free for GBG members, and if you are not the member you can join here):

And fourth video will also show you how to create photo masks in Photoshop Elements (ver. 8.0) using the same Christmas Photo Masks PNG files but in a different way:

I hope you’ll like the videos. I did not record audio because I’m a shy person, but all that matters is there. Just follow what I do and you’ll be just fine.

OK. That’s all for now, thank you for your supportive emails and your comments on GI Facebook fan page! I love you all!

Silvia

January 24, 2010  |  by bsilvia  |  Photoshop Brushes  |  2 comments

I don’t know about you but I’m a night bird  when it comes to working on new designs. Night is just the perfect time to work in peace. All is calm and quiet, phones are not ringing. Neighbors are silent, my cats are sleeping behind my screen, no horns on the street – nothing obstructs my work.

So, last night I’ve spent working on new Valentine’s Day card templates. It started well, my muses sat on my shoulder and the creation of new Valentine’s Day cards was going smoothly, like a song.

And then I made a mistake. I stopped working on the designs ’cause I had to take care of some other stuff that needed be attended to and by the time I was back, the muses were gone.
