Wedding Invitation Tutorial – Photoshop Brushes in Action

OK, for this tutorial we will need:

  1. 1. A photo of the bride and groom and two rings (loads of cheap pro photos can be found on Dreamstime)
  2. 2. Font “Porcelain”, download from DaFont
  3. 3. Ultimate Wedding Brushes Set
  4. 4. Nothing else, that’s all

So, let’s get started.
In Photoshop create a new document, for our purposes the document size will be 7in (width) x 6in (height) and since it will be printed out then we’ll use the resolution of 250px/in.

Now, we move on to step two. After coloring the background the time has come to pick up the right Photoshop brushes for the job (F5 to get the Photoshop Brushes palette on screen, “B” to select brush tool, “[" and "]” to resize brushes on screen. More on brushes shortcuts ->)

After positioning and coloring the brush (More info on coloring brushes ->) it is not time to add text. We used Porcelain and Times New Roman in this example.

So, now let’s add one more brush from the same palette (Ultimate Wedding Brushes set)

We can get various effects by playing with “Bevel and Emboss” effect and layer transparency. So after placing another brush and formating text our wedding invitation should look something like this:

And here is a better insight onto layer positioning and ordering, also using Marquee tool we created the brown rectangles for images …

Now it’s time to add images and desaturate them like this…

This will allow us to achieve better blending into the background, after adding the image make sure that the image layer mode is set to “Multiply” …

To cut out the image press Ctrl and click the layer that contains rectangles this will create Marquee, now press Ctrl+I to invert selection, select the layer with image and press “Del” this will now cut the images to fit the rectangles.
