Unique Epoxy Pendant, The Birth of a Timeless Keepsake
I’ve always been fascinated by the enchanting beauty of the Grand Place in Brussels, Belgium. And one day, I decided to capture a piece of that magic and wear it close to my heart. Thus, my epoxy pendant was born – a beautiful, wearable photograph of the Konings huis or Maison du Roi.
Capturing the Essence of Brussels in epoxy pendant
My trusty old Weltaflex medium format camera (which, by the way, is older than me!) was my weapon of choice, loaded with Rollei 120 black and white negative RPX 100. With a steady hand and a keen eye, I snapped the perfect shot of the Maison du Roi, forever preserving a moment in time.
Developing the Memory
With great care, I developed the film at home using Ilford ILFOSOL 3 developer and fixed it in Ilford RAPID fixer. The result was a black and white film, ready to be transformed into a wearable work of art.
The Art of Epoxy Resin
To create the pendant, I used Clear Epoxy Resin Reschimica – a liquid glass that takes 10 hours to harden (in two coats, 10 hours for each coat is needed). This epoxy resin gave the pendant a crystal-clear finish, allowing the captivating image of the Maison du Roi to shine through.
A Unique Piece of History
The finished epoxy pendant is a unique piece that allows you to take a piece of history and the beauty of Brussels with you wherever you go. The medium format film, set in clear epoxy resin, hangs elegantly from a waxed cotton cord – a true testament to the art of photography and craftsmanship.
